It’s Been a Minute

So I know it’s been a minute since I’ve made an article here. I’m not really sure why it’s taken me so long. I mean I write in my journal quite frequently but finding the time and desire to write an article here seems a little more daunting. Maybe because I work on a computer daily for my job that I don’t have the desire to write a blog entry? Or maybe because I already write in my journal as often as I do that I don’t find the idea of also writing an article here seems unnecessary but I am going to try and correct that! 🙂

I mean how can I share what I’m experiencing if I don’t get it out? I know that no one is really reading this so what does it matter if I put it in my journal or in my blog?

I think the truth is, honestly, lately I’ve been struggling to find things to remain positive about. The debt, the new job, the daily struggles we all face – it’s a lot and can get you down. Even though I’m supposed to be #barbisbrightside, it’s not always that easy.

That doesn’t mean in any way that I’m not grateful for what I have or am blessed with because trust – I have a lot to be grateful and thankful for. But we are only human after all and between mass shootings, political chaos and drama and every day realities like debt, house cleaning, grocery shopping, trying to help get your kids’ lives on a positive path – it can take it out of you for sure.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that you don’t have to always be 100% happy about everything that our everyday life situations throw at us. It’s natural that some shit is going to get through that will bring you down. And that’s ok! Just don’t focus on it! Recognize it for what it is, just a set back to the day/week/month. Recognize it, acknowledge it and then realize this doesn’t define you or your path and future. This is what it is. If you can’t change it, accept it and move on.

You can find other ways around it. Look, life isn’t always roses and rainbows. No matter how hard we all try to remain positive so that we can live the Laws of Attraction. As Robbie Williams would sing “It’s only natural to feel the guilt of a nation. You’re only human, when you’re young, you’re gonna cry.”

I mean that’s pretty much it in a nut shell. It’s almost impossible and exhausting to try to remain positive about every single situation we face on a daily fucking basis. But you can’t let it destroy you. If you spend all of your time focusing on what’s not working in your life instead of what actually is working in your life then it’s going to be that much harder to climb out of that hole you find yourself in.

I’m a firm believer that if you don’t like the way your life is shaping up, only YOU have the power to change it. However, I’m also a realist enough to know that you’re never going to have all the material comforts that you want. Unless of course you’re a billionaire and even then I’m not too sure that statement holds true, but my point is that there will always be set backs. There will always be something in your life situation you wish you could change, do better or have. So change what you can, accept what you can’t and just try to move along. Living with regret or in the past will never do anyone any good.

As Dumbledore would say, “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live Harry”. So yes, it’s not always easy. But try to keep things in perspective.

If you’re reading this, you have access to a computer and the internet. Chances are you have clean running water or at least access to it and food on the table. I hope that you have a warm and safe bed to sleep in at night. That alone is a lot more than a lot of others around the world have. So find the good parts of your life, be thankful for them and remember to appreciate them.

If bad shit finds its way into your life, and I hope it doesn’t, but if it does – recognize it. Accept it, acknowledge it but also realize that it’s not the be “all” and “end” all. It’s just a thing. There is so much more out there waiting to be found and experienced by you – go after it. Constantly focusing on the bad mojo that you currently may be going through or have gone through in the past will never allow you to move forward or see the GOOD that you do have!

Go forth and be free my lovelies! Live each day to the fullest and remember to always be kind to each other – including yourselves!
